August 2010 – Invite Leos and youth in your area to help organize and participate in a service project. Projects may include school or community facility cleanups or a visit to a home for senior citizens or a children’s hospital. Allowing youth to develop and lead a service project enables them to learn skills while emphasizing the role of service. |
Brandon Lions Club Honors LEO Member
Brandon High School LEO Member Nathan Ochoa, Senior & Vice President of the Brandon High School LEO Club, was presented with the LEO Club certificate of “Good Standing” by Lion Arthur Schmidt, LEO Club advisor. This award was temporary pending reception of the LEO Award of Honor pin from the International Association of Lions Clubs. As a senior & Vice President of the Brandon High School LEO Club, he amassed 59 recorded hours along with many more unrecorded hours helping our Lions Club in several fund raising projects. He was involved in many High School projects and helped at ECHO in May during their food drive. ECHO is a food pantry and clothing assistance source for residents of the greater Brandon area who may have experienced a recent emergency.
At a later meeting of the Brandon Lions Club, Nathan was presented with the International Association of Lions Clubs “LEO Award of Honor” pin which was engraved with his name & year. Lion Art Schmidt noted during the presentation that this is the first time he could remember an award being given to a LEO member. During Nathan’s membership, he has developed leadership abilities and is part of a world wide “humanitarian” organization effort. |
